Established in the year 1967, Our Lady of Fatima University derives its name from “The National Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima. This university was started by a chemistry professor Jose C. Olivares and his son Dr. Vicente M. Santos. Initially, this University was a center of medicine studies for those in Valenzuela city in Philippines, later it became an institution of repute and significant knowledge dispersal for the neighboring areas as well. Though this University started off with an aim of providing valuable medicine training to doctors, in the course of time, Our Lady of Fatima University incorporated valuable courses and subjects such as medicine, physical therapy, chemistry, midwifery and so on. They also have other branches of studies such as computer studies, criminology, hotel management etc. The University was also awarded as the status of University in the year 2002. Currently, it has four campuses – Valenzuela City, Quezon City, Antipolo City and Pampanga.

Faculty And Courses

There are six main colleges in this University namely, College of Medicine, College of Dentistry, College of Physical Therapy, College of Nursing, College of Pharmacy. The College of Dentistry offers Bachelor’s Degree in Dentistry and a two year program for preparatory Dentistry. The College of Physical Therapy offers Bachelor’s in Physical Therapy and Respiratory Therapy. The College of Nursing offers a Bachelor’s in Nursing, A two year program in Midwifery and other shirt term programs for health care services, caregivers etc. Masters courses are offered in subjects like Medicine, Public Health, Physical Therapy, Physiology and Anatomy.

Staff And Teaching

Teaching in Our Lady of Fatima University is conducted primarily in the English language. A balance is achieved between practical classes in the laboratories and clinics as well as theory based classes in classrooms. International and national seminars are also organized by the different colleges for their respective students. Accreditations include those by the Association of Philippine Medical Colleges, New York and Illinois State Board of Education and others.
